Biographical Information[edit]
In his lone major league game on September 28, 1924, Buddy Crump was 0-for-4 with a sacrifice and an RBI. He played in the outfield and made two errors. The New York Giants lost, Buddy's team, lost 11-6, to the Philadelphia Phillies. Crump was a T5 in the U.S. Army in World War II. He is buried in Section 23A, Site 215 of Raleigh National Cemetery in Raleigh, NC (http:/gravelocator.cem.va.gov).
Buddy also played at least eight years in the minors. He was born in Virginia, and much of his minor league career was in the Virginia League and the Southeastern League. In 1927 with the Norfolk Tars he hit .345, close to the team lead, and had 16 home runs, tied for the team lead.
