"Gladman, the youngest and least experienced member of the National team, is playing third base in a style which if maintained will place him in time among the cracks." - Sporting Life, Aug. 19, 1885, complimenting Buck Gladmon by saying he was performing as a top player
Buck Gladmon played three years in the majors. During 1884 and 1886 he was a regular for Washington in two different major leagues. He actually played for Washington in 1885 also, but in that year it was in the Eastern League.
In both 1884 and 1886 he was the youngest regular on the team. He died young in 1890 at age 26.
