Biographical Information[edit]
Alexander Vernon "Buck" Freeman pitched 38 games for the 1921 Cubs and 11 more for the 1922 Cubs. He also had seven seasons in the minors, most notably going 14-9 for the 1924 Denver Bears.
Alex was probably nicknamed "Buck" after the star player Buck Freeman, whose big league career ran from 1891-1907. There was also a Harvey Freeman who pitched in the majors in 1921, and who was also nicknamed "Buck".
