Biographical Information[edit]

Bruce Gullett played for Team Canada.

He played hockey and football in college, making the school's All-Time football team as a two-way player. He would later make their Sports Wall of Fame. He was 1-for-27 in the 1963 Manitoba Senior League but improved to .221 the next year. After hitting .184 for the 1964 Souris Cardinals at age 20, he was 0 for 7 for Brandon in '65. In 1968, he was 1 for 7 for the Riverside Canucks. His .316 average in 1972 ranked 4th in the Alberta Major Baseball League. He played for Team Canada in the 1972 Amateur World Series.

Gullett slipped to .244 in 1973. In 1975, he was the All-Star catcher in the Manitoba Senior League, falling to second-team in 1976 when he hit .270. He was first-team from 1977-1980, hitting .303, .302 and .333 the first three years. He made several more All-Star teams before retiring as a player. He later managed the Canucks. He was also inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a hockey official and coach as well. He was a town councilor in Wawanesa from 1997-2006 then was mayor from 2006-2014.
