Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Brian Skaug was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 20th round of the 2003 amateur draft (one pick before infielder Jason Donald) and played in their organization for two years.

He played in 14 games for the Tri-City ValleyCats in 2003, hitting .278/.297/.389 with one walk and ten strikeouts in 36 at-bats. He had one error in 32 chances, backing up at SS (8 G) and 3B (3 G). The following year, for the ValleyCats and Salem Avalanche, he hit .250/.250/.313 in 16 at-bats (4 for 11, double for Tri-City; 0 for 5 for Salem). He handled 21 chances error-free. Overall, Skaug hit .269/.283/.365 with no home runs, five RBI, one walk and 13 strikeouts in 54 plate appearances over 22 minor league games; he fielded .981.
