Brian O'Halloran

Biographical Information[edit]

Brian O'Halloran joined the Boston Red Sox in 2002 as an assistant in the baseball operations department and became Director of Baseball Operations in 2006. In 2011, he became Assistant General Manager and Vice-President, then Senior Vice-President in 2015. On October 25, 2019, he was named General Manager at the same time as Chaim Bloom was named Head of Baseball Operations. Both men succeeded David Dombrowski, who had been fired in September and held the two titles simultaneously.

Previous to his baseball career, he worked in Russia and Georgia. His first job in baseball was as an unpaid intern with the San Diego Padres, which seems like a necessary rite of passage for future Red Sox executives, as Larry Lucchino, Theo Epstein and Bloom had all worked for the Padres at one point before joining the Sox.
