Biographical Information

Before being called up to the majors by the Houston Astros in 1995, Brian Hunter was hitting .329 with the Tucson Toros - a foreshadowing of things to come. In his first 37 major league games that season, he hit .349, all the while stealing 14 bases. Of course, this was expected of him after his enormous 1994 season, when he topped the Pacific Coast League in hitting, runs, hits and stolen bases. He was named the league's top prospect and a Triple-A All Star that year.

Playing for the Detroit Tigers on July 20, 1998, he went 0 for 13 in a doubleheader. That matched a futility record set by Hobe Ferris of the Boston Americans on July 4, 1905.

In his ten major league seasons, he played in exactly 1,000 games. In 2005, he played for the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League.

Hunter became a coach with the Everett AquaSox in 2015-2016.
