Brian Harrell is the brother of Tim Harrell and Richard Harrell and played alongside them in the 2000 Olympics. In 1997, Brian had gone 5-3 with a 4.43 ERA for Liberty University, followed by 8-4, 4.20 in 1998, when he was third in the Big South Conference in ERA. Both years, he had a better ERA than brother Tim, the lone member of the family to go into the pro ranks. In the 2000 Olympics, Brian allowed three runs in 4 2/3 IP for South Africa, giving up 7 hits in 20 at-bats.
