Biographical Information[edit]
Brett Netzer was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2017. He was invited to Spring Training 2020 by the Sox before it was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the 2021 minor league season began, Netzer was placed on the restricted list for unknown reasons. After being expected to return after not playing a professional baseball game since 2019, Netzer seemed to have lost his mind in early 2022 when he began posting racist and homophobic tweets such as attacking Red Sox owner, Chaim Bloom over his religion and calling himself a self-proclaimed racist. Many fans as well as the Red Sox themselves thought Netzer's account may have been hacked, but to their horror he posted videos of himself saying such things which led to his immediate release. Even after being released, Netzer continued to post crazy things such as saying that owning pets should be a crime then posting a picture of himself with a dog 3 days later, and even going as far as to post another video of himself openly admitting to rape, saying the victim's full name in the video, and saying that he would not apologize for it. Most of his YouTube videos were taken down shortly after being posted though a few still remain up. No one is sure what caused him to go this far though some suspect he had a severe mental health crisis.
