Biographical Information[edit]
Brett Merritt earned his undergraduate degree in sports management from Urbana University in 2007. He coached college baseball for many years at the junior college, NAIA, NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division I levels. At Eastern New Mexico University he also served as the recruiting coordinator which is a significant role in college baseball.
In addition, Merritt coached summer collegiate teams for four years. He was the pitching coach for the Glens Falls Golden Eagles in 2007-2009 of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. In 2017 Merritt served as the head coach of the Juno Beach Loggerheads in the inaugural season of the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches.
Merritt joined the professional coaching ranks in 2020 when the Boston Red Sox hired him as the Salem Red Sox pitching coach before COVID-19 shut down the minor league season.
