Brendon Mitchell played for the South African national team in the 2007 Baseball World Cup, going 2 for 11 with a walk and five strikeouts as the backup to Greg Liebenberg at first. Backing up Liebenberg again in the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, he was 1 for 5 with two walks. He is on the South Africa's provisional roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
