Biographical Information[edit]

After a four-year career at Texas Tech, catcher Braxton Fulford was a 6th-round draft choice by the Colorado Rockies in 2021. He slugged .590, hit 14 home runs, and drove home 44 runs his senior year in 52 games.

His professional career commenced with 14 games in the Arizona Complex League, in which he slashed .267/.488/.400 and threw out 43% of potential base thieves. He moved up to A ball in 2022, where he was the Fresno Grizzlies' regular catcher. In 104 games, he slashed .268/.380/.448. He launched 15 home runs and knocked in 53 runs. He also stole 13 bases, and defensively, he nailed 36% of runners trying to steal.

After 15 games in the Arizona Fall League, he moved up to the class A+ Northwest League for 2023. In late May, he cracked the Rockies' top 30 prospect list when Michael Toglia graduated from the list. Through May 28, Fulford was slashing .307/.398/.511 with 6 home runs and 8 doubles. He's had two different eight-game hitting streaks, and began the season with a six-game hitting streak. On May 30, he was promoted to the AA Hartford Yard Goats While his offense has improved every year in the Rockies organization, they project him as a defense-first catcher who could potentially be a big-league backup with a plus arm and good ability to handle a pitching staff.
