Boyd Laval Mauer

Biographical Information[edit]

Boyd Mauer umpired in the Pioneer League from 1966 to 1968 and again from 1970 to 1973. He then was one of the busiest replacement umpires of the late 1970s, as he was on duty in the National League for the one-day strike by the regular umpires on August 25, 1978, and then umpired in both leagues the following year. Being based in Los Angeles, CA, he was available to work games at both Dodger Stadium and Anaheim Stadium, and work he did, with 34 games between the start of the season and May 18th, when the strike was resolved.
