Biographical Information

Bobby Reis was a two-way player at a relatively late time in major league history, the 1930's. He was in 142 games total at the major league level, of which 69 were as a pitcher.

Reis, at age 20, played third base for the 1931 Hartford Senators, who won 97 games. Reis hit .327, which placed him in the top ten in the league. He also made his major league debut in 1931 with the 1931 Brooklyn Robins, hitting .294 in six games.

He was with Toledo in 1933-34.

When Reis played in the majors in 1935-38, he did a lot of pitching, throwing 242.7 innings. In 1935, he had an ERA of 2.83, much better than average. In 1936, his ERA wasn't as good, but he nevertheless had a record of 6-5 for a team that finished under .500.
