Biographical Information[edit]
Bobby Castillo is credited with teaching Fernando Valenzuela how to throw a screwball. He had a fine career of his own, pitching 250 games (59 starts) in a nine year career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins. He was a valuable relief weapon in 1980, going 8-6 with a 2.75 ERA and 5 saves in 61 games. Though not as effective in 1981, he earned a World Series ring as the Dodgers toppled the New York Yankees. Bobby died from cancer in 2014 at the age of 59.
