Biographical Information

Hometown boy Bobbie Orrison joined the Frederick Hustlers of the Blue Ridge League in 1915. Primarily an outfielder, he was the league's first batting champion, hitting .341 in the circuit's inaugral season. He also appeared as a pitcher in 6 games, going 3-0 with a 0.92 ERA, as the Hustlers won the league championship. The next season, his team (now renamed the Frederick Champs) fell to fourth place, but Orrison continued his fine play. He drove in 70 runs and led the league with 10 home runs. On the mound, he went 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA in 9 games. In 1917, Tom Crooke took over as manager of the team (again known as the Hustlers), and Orrison found his playing time limited. He was released by the Hustlers and ended up joining the Hanover Raiders for a time. At the end of the season, Orrison ended his baseball career.
