Bob Willman
Robert Stephan Willman
- Born 1949
Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Willman was a minor league umpire from 1973 to 1980, with stops in the New York-Penn League, Midwest League, Carolina League, Southern League and International League.
Many years later, in 1991, he got to work a National League game on Opening Day as the regular umpires, who had gone on strike during spring training, had just struck a deal with the league but too late to make it in time for their first assignments of the year. Four years later, in 1995, he got to work in six more games when the umpires again went on strike at the beginning of the season. As one of the more experienced replacement umpires who were quickly rounded up in 1991, he got to work home plate in a game between the Montreal Expos and Pittsburgh Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium. He later worked in the Atlantic League.
