Bob Stevens was a baseball writer for the San Francisco Chronicle. He covered Pacific Coast League games for the Chronicle from 1936 to 1957. For 17 seasons, he was the Chronicle's beat writer for the San Francisco Seals. When the New York Giants moved to San Francisco, he began a 21-season run on the Giants beat.
After retiring from the paper in 1978, Stevens was an official scorer until the 2001 season.
The press box at AT&T Park has been named for Stevens from the time the park opened. In 1998, he was awarded the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for his contributions to baseball in the media.
