Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Sheldon played for the Milwaukee Brewers in three years, 1974, 1975, and 1977. He was primarily a second baseman, but also appeared in a third of his games as DH. He was the same age as teammate Gorman Thomas.
Most of Sheldon's at-bats were in 1975, when Pedro Garcia was the regular second baseman. Garcia had a great range factor, but hit only .225 while Sheldon hit .287 (although Garcia had a higher slugging percentage than Sheldon). in 1976, Garcia was traded in June. Sheldon was not in the majors that year, but the following year, 1977, he was back up with the Brewers. Don Money played second base that year and Sheldon appeared mostly as a DH. One year later, rookie Paul Molitor took over second base, and Sheldon's big league career was finished.
He went to Loyola Marymount University where Joey Amalfitano, also a second baseman, attended.
