Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Ingersoll was 31 when he came to the majors with the 1914 Cincinnati Reds. He did fairly well, giving up two runs in six innings of work, and also going 1 for 1 as a hitter.
Bob was the first major league player born in South Dakota, although since he was 31 when he made his debut, by the time he got there he was not the first South Dakotan to come to the majors. Four other South Dakota players, although born later than Ingersoll, got to the majors first.
After baseball he worked as a mechanic.
