Biographical Information[edit]

Bob Hunter pitched for the first Canadian national team.

Hunter was with the Transcona Atomics in the 1966 Winnipeg Senior Baseball League. He pitched for Canada in the 1967 Pan American Games, their first international tournament. He got the tough nod against Gold Medal winner Team USA on a day that Canada lost four of its players because they had pro experience in an amateur-only event. He took a 14-10 loss to Joe Sadelfeld, working until the 9th when Ken Ewasiuk relieved. He also lost 5-2 to Puerto Rico's Francisco Mercado when his team stranded 15, going the distance in that game. His last season with Transcona was 1970.
