Biographical Information[edit]
Although born in Covington, KY, catcher Bob Clark played most of his major league career for the Brooklyn teams in the American Association and National League, part of pennant-winning teams in 1889 and 1890. His best year with the bat was 1889, when he hit .275 on a team that hit .263 (in spite of suffering an injury to his hand that forced him to miss most of July). He also umpired one NL game in 1897.
He is not to be confused with Bob Clark or with Bobby Clark. Quite a few major leaguers have been born in Covington, including pitcher Joel McKeon, almost exactly 100 years later.
