Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Carlson played baseball and basketball in college, with a sub-1.50 ERA. He pitched for Team USA when they finished third in the 1940 Amateur World Series. He later served in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He remained in the Active Reserve until 1974, retiring as a colonel. He spent 28 years as Chittenden County Agricultural Agent for the University of Vermont Extension Service and won numerous awards. He had a radio program and wrote about agricultural issues. He was inducted into the University of Vermont Athletics Hall of Fame and the Vermont Agricultural Hall of Fame and taught Sunday school for years.
