Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Anderlik played in the Chicago Cubs system from 1948 to 1952. He played for the Decatur Commodores from 1948 to 1950, the Nashville Volunteers in 1951 and the Des Moines Bruins in 1951 and 1952.
After leading the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League with 140 hits in 1949, he hit .305 with 34 doubles in 1950 and .311 with 169 hits in 145 games in 1951. Following a down year in 1952, his career was over.
Overall, Anderlik hit .295 with 559 hits in 504 games over five seasons. He also served in the US Army. He later taught math at the high school and college levels and coached high school baseball, football and basketball. He and his wife donated over a million dollars to animal and environmental groups.
