Bluefield Dodgers

From BR Bullpen

The Bluefield Dodgers were members of the Appalachian League for one season, but it was a very successful year. When the Appalachian was revived in 1957 the Brooklyn Dodgers affiliate went 47-20-6, taking the pennant by two games over the Johnson City Phillies. The club was second in offense (559 runs) and defense (410 runs allowed) and first in run differential (51 more than Johnson City). OF Albert Fantuzzi led the league in hitting (.377) and doubles (20). The next season the team became the Bluefield Orioles, which they still are today.
