Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Blair Henley was drafted twice, first by the New York Yankees in the 22nd round of the 2016 amateur draft coming out of high school, and then by the Houston Astros in the 7th round of the 2019 amateur draft, out of the University of Texas, for whom he appeared in the 2018 College World Series. In high school, he threw three consecutive no-hitters at one point. He was signed by scout Kris Gross.

He had a very rough major league debut for the Astros on April 8, 2024, called up from the minors as an emergency replacement for starting pitcher Framber Valdez, who had to be scratched because of elbow soreness. Facing the Texas Rangers, he lasted just a third of an inning, allowing four hits and three walks, before being replaced by Seth Martinez. The Rangers scored five runs off him, but did not score again the rest of the game and Houston came back to claim a 10-5 win, sparing him from a loss in spite of his 135.00 ERA.
