Biographical Information[edit]
Billy Wynne, who had a fortunate name for a pitcher, won 8 games in a five-year major league career. Nearly half of his appearances were with the Chicago White Sox in 1969. He also won 57 games during nine years in the minors.
He had one complete game shutout in his major league career. It was on June 22, 1969 against the California Angels as a member of the White Sox. He gave up 7 hits, walked 1 and struck out 3. The White Sox won the game, 1-0. He was the only member of the starting rotation in 1969 to have a .500 record.
He is not to be confused with Bill Wynne, also a pitcher and also from North Carolina.
Billy and Barry Moore were both at Pfeiffer College in 1962.
