Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Billy Shields spent ten seasons (1950, 1954-1962) in the minor leagues, including one in the Pacific Coast League. He played 998 games, collected 1,061 hits and hit exactly 100 home runs. In 1956, with the Western League's Amarillo Gold Sox, he hit .318 with 28 home runs and the following year, also with Amarillo, he hit .325 with 200 hits. His average did not dip below .303 from 1955 to 1958.
