Biographical Information[edit]
Billy Palmer, a St. Louis boy, pitched for the St. Louis Maroons in 1885, losing all four of his starts, then was with the Memphis Browns of the Southern League, where he went 3-3. He also played for the Lucas club that year. Sporting Life in August 1885 reported that he was home on leave due to injuries.
He was not positively identified until the 2020s, when researcher Justin McKinney found his marriage notice in a local paper that identified him as a "former pitcher for the Maroons". That was the element needed to find his birth and death information. He was the brother-in-law of Tom Morrison.
