Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Swift was the son of minor league pitcher Jim Swift, born Michael Poproski, who only began to use the "Swift" last name outside of baseball after the birth of his son. The elder Swift settled in Elmira, NY after his playing career, and the city was long listed as Bill's place of birth, but contemporary records clearly indicate that he first saw the light of day in Glen Lyon, PA.
He has 95 career wins - one more than his 1990s namesake Bill Swift.
Notable Achievements[edit]
- 15 Wins Seasons: 2 (1935 & 1936)
- 200 Innings Pitched Seasons: 5 (1932-1936)
