Biographical information[edit]
Bill Ripken is the brother of Cal Ripken, Sr. and the uncle of Cal Ripken, Jr. and Billy Ripken. An outfielder, he played from 1947 to 1949 in the Brooklyn Dodgers farm system.
In 1947, he played for the Cambridge Dodgers, hitting .346 with five home runs, 21 doubles and eight triples. He split the 1948 season between the Lancaster Red Roses and Danville Dodgers, hitting a combined .305 with two home runs, twelve doubles and eleven triples. He again played for Lancaster in 1949, as well as the Montreal Royals, hitting a combined .306 with 30 doubles, five triples and seven home runs.
Overall, he hit .318 with 14 home runs, 63 doubles and 24 triples in his three year minor league career.
