Biographical Information

Outfielder Bill Rainer made the Pioneer League All-Star team in 1967. Playing for the Ogden Dodgers, he led outfielders in fielding percentage (.966) and putouts (111), led the league in hits (84) and tied Mike Floyd for the lead in total bases (110). Rainer was fourth in the PL in average. In 1968, his final season in professional baseball, he batted .265 for the Bakersfield Dodgers.

William Rainer received his B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University. While a student, he lettered in basketball and baseball, and for two years he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization after having been drafted in the 3rd round of the 1967 amateur draft. Mr. Rainer is a co-founder of Greenwich Capital Markets, Inc. and a past member of the SMU Board of trustees. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to be chairman of the United States Enrichment Corporation and completed his public service as chairman and CEO of OneChicago, a joint Futures Trading Commission in 2001. He later became chairman and CEO of OneChicago, a joint venture of the three Chicago derivatives exchanges. His wife, Carolyn Mattson Rainer, received her B.A. degree from SMU and her M.S.W. degree from Columbia University. They have three children.
