Bill Plaschke
William Paul Plaschke
- Born: September 6, 1958 in Louisville, KY
Bill Plaschke joined the Los Angeles Times in their San Diego bureau in 1987. He has written a regular column for the Times since 1996. Before joining the Times, Plaschke wrote for the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel and Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Plaschke received a good deal of notoriety for claiming that baseball's financial structure was such that only 5 or 6 teams had any chance to make the playoffs in 2001 - long after baseball was using an 8-team playoff system.
Plaschke has gained national recognition as a regular panelist on ESPN's Around the Horn.
