Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder William Lutes spent seven years in the minor leagues, from 1944 to 1952. He hit .282 with 783 hits in 773 games. Perhaps his best season was 1949, when he hit .313 with seven home runs and 37 doubles in 140 games for the Jacksonville Tars of the South Atlantic League.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II in 1944 and 1945.
