Bill Lauterborn played in the majors in 1904-05, appearing in 87 games.
Lauterborn attended Fordham University between the years 1898-1904, at a time when it was sending a number of players to the majors. Ed Walsh was at Fordham from 1900-03.
Bill spent 1903 playing for Binghamton, in the New York State League. Part of 1905 was with Seattle in the PCL.
Most of his major league at-bats were with the 1905 Boston Beaneaters managed by Fred Tenney. Lauterborn primarily backed up third base and second base.
An article mentions Lauterborn, while on the Seattle team in 1905, saying that Oakland was having troubles with attendance. The article claims that at one game, Oakland drew only one spectator.
