Biographical Information

Bill Kinnamon was a major league umpire for a decade.

Kinnamon broke into baseball as a player in 1949, spending one year with the Tallahassee Pirates. He hit .224 with one home run and 10 RBI. After his playing days, he spent a time working for the IRS.

Kinnamon was an umpire in the Sooner State League in 1953 and Pioneer League in 1954. He was in the Eastern League from 1955 to June 1, 1956, and the American Association from June 2, 1956 to 1960. He then worked in the American League from September 1960 to 1969. He was behind the plate for Roger Maris' 61st home run in 1961. He also worked the 1968 World Series and three All-Star Games.

He operated an umpiring school in Florida that trained a large number of future major league umpires.
