Biographical Information

Bill Kalfass pitched three games in the majors for the 1937 Philadelphia Athletics under manager Earle Mack. Bill was 21 years old, and posted an ERA of 3.00, with a record of 1-0. He was a bit wild, with 10 walks allowed in 12 innings.

Bill was born in New York, NY, and at age 18 was pitching in the minors in 1934. However, during ages 19-20 he was in school at Columbia University, and then went back to the minors in 1937. He came up to the majors in September, 1937, before going back to the minors for three more seasons, and then years later, one more in 1946.
