Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Gaffney was a Seattle Mariners' 19th round pick in the 1979 amateur draft out of Adelphi University. He played shortstop for two seasons in the Mariners organization.
Geffney returned to Adelphi as an assistant coach from 1982-1984, and became a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department in 1983 [1]. He was eventually elected to the Adelphi Athletics Hall of Fame.
Gaffney was an assistant coach at LIU Post for seven seasons, then was head coach from 2012-2013 [2]. He stepped down from the head coaching role to allow his son, Mike Gaffney, to become head coach. Two of his sons, Mike and Scott Gaffney played in the minor leagues.
