Biographical Information[edit]

Right-hander Bill Clemensen spent six active seasons in baseball from 1937 to 1947. He also served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.

Bill spent parts of three different seasons (1939, 1941 and 1946) in the majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He appeared in a total of 15 games, pitching 42 innings, and gave up 39 hits and 31 runs for a career record of 1-1 with a 5.57 ERA. He spent five active seasons in the minor leagues with his best numbers coming in 1937, his first year, when he went 16-10 with a 3.67 ERA in 30 games for the Hutchinson Larks of the Class C Western Association. It was his only season with a winning record. Bill pitched with six different minor league clubs from Class C to AAA, going 37-40 in 134 games (649 innings).

After baseball, and until his retirement, Clemensen was a superintendent for the California Youth Authority for 27 years. He died from a heart attack in Alta, CA at 74.
