Biographical Information[edit]
Dode Brinker played nine games in the majors in 1912. He was also the baseball coach at the University of Washington in 1906, 1909-1910, 1915-1916, and 1918-1919. The book The Glory of Washington has some text and a photo of Brinker. He pitched for the university in 1903-1905 and was quarterback on the football team in 1904 as well as a tackle on the 1905 team. He entered law school in 1905 and also edited the school's literary magazine. The school's 1916 yearbook indicates he formerly played in the Northwestern League. Pitching for Aberdeen on May 28, 1908, Brinker threw a no-hitter against Tacoma, winning 2-0.
A guide to the Wee Coyle photo collection says there is a photo of the 1909 University of Washington baseball team, including coach Brinker and a future minor leaguer named Ten Million.
