Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Bill Boudreau played in the Brooklyn Dodgers system from 1947 to 1952. He began his career with 22 stolen bases and 121 walks in 123 games for the Ponca City Dodgers, then hit .356/.503/.581 with 13 home runs, 118 RBI, 120 runs scored, 17 triples, 30 stolen bases, 120 walks and just 46 strikeouts in 118 games for the Pulaski Counts in 1948. He never reached such highs again, though he continued to show a good eye at the plate for the Danville Dodgers (1949-1950) and Elmira Pioneers (1951-1952), posting walk totals of 109, 123, 75 and 87 over the final four years of his career, while striking out just 76, 65, 65 and 51 times, respectively. In 1949, his on-base percentage was .430 and in 1950, it was .450.

Overall, Boudreau hit .268/.412/.383 with 29 home runs, 441 RBI, 518 walks, 75 steals, 720 hits and 412 strikeouts in 770 games over six seasons. He was always 4.7 to 6.5 years older than the average batter in his league.
