Biographical Information

Bill Annis was the fourth outfielder on the 1884 Boston Beaneaters, who finished second in the 1884 National League. Annis, 27, mostly backed up 22-year-old center fielder Jim Manning in Manning's rookie year.

Annis died in 1923 in Kennebunkport, ME, a year before George H. W. Bush was born. Bush was not born in Kennebunkport, but spent much of his early life living there. He is not to be confused with another Billy (William K.) Annis, who played from 1901-10 in the minors. The earlier Annis was an outfielder while the later one was a shortstop.
