Biographical Information[edit]
Betsy Jochum played for the South Bend Blue Sox of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1943 to 1948. Originally an outfielder, she led the league with 120 hits and 12 doubles in the circuit's first year while batting .273. The next season, she led the league with a .296 average and 128 hits. In 1948, she became a pitcher and went 14-13 on the mound. Overall, during her career, she hit .246 with 7 home runs in 654 games.
After her baseball days, Jochum was a teacher in South Bend for 25 years.
As of 2025, she is the oldest living AAGPBL player at age 104.
