Biographical Information[edit]
Albert "Beany" Jacobson pitched four seasons in the majors. In his most successful season, with the St. Louis Browns in 1906, he went 9-9 with a 2.50 ERA.
He was a year older than catcher Branch Rickey.
Jacobson grew up in Port Washington, WI and was long listed as having been born there, but researchers found a copy of his birth certificate that indicated he was born in Sweden. During eight years in the minors he had a number of successful seasons, including in 1911 when he went 26-9 for Kalamazoo.
One observer places him on the "all food" team.
