Bayden Root played five years of college ball before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023. The pitcher played for the ACL Brewers and Carolina Mudcats that year, going 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 7 relief appearances.

His father, Derek Root, played in the minor leagues in the 1990s and 2000s.
