Relying on a mix of statistical and anecdotal information, the book offers a compelling case that the 1939 Yankees were better than more famous clubs such as the 1927 Yankees and 1906 Cubs. The book also has chapters on top Negro League teams, top 19th Century clubs, the worst teams ever and some teams that missed their cut-off.
