Baseball5 was devised by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation in 2017 as a way to spread baseball's popularity to areas where equipment and fields were harder to come by. A five-inning, five-on-five game that uses almost no equipment, it was promoted heavily by the WBSC to less-developed areas especially. The game became popular enough to be included in the 2022 Youth Asian Games.
