Barth Morreale came to pitch in Italy when he found out that he did not count as a foreign player due to his great-grandfather being from Italy. He reached Italy's top level in 2006, going 6-4 with two saves and a 2.30 ERA for Bologna. He was 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA in the playoffs. He resurfaced in 2011. In the 2011 European Cup, he beat the Moscow North Stars by allowing two runs (one earned) in five innings.
His brother Nicholas Morreale played in Italy as well.
