Biographical Information[edit]
Bernard "Barney" Reilly, out of Yale University, played 12 games for the 1909 White Sox. The Sox regular second baseman that year was Jake Atz, in his last year in the big leagues. Barney also played four seasons in the minors, three of which were with the St. Joseph Drummers.
"Already Comiskey has uncovered one promising youngster in Barney Reilly the former Yale captain who joined the Sox last week. He broke into the game Friday under good auspices and has won a soft spot in he local hearts by his fielding and his apparent familiarity with professional base ball. He has not made a base hit yet in two and a half games but when the sum total of all the Six's (sic) hits in two games is found to be four singles Reilly does not look bad at bat by comparison. He handles himself well and picks out good balls batting either right or left-handed." - Pensacola Journal, July 11, 1909
