Biographical Information

Babe Dye is in the National Hockey Hall of Fame. He led the NHL in goals three times and in scoring two times.

Dye played for two years for the Brantford Red Sox in the class B Michigan-Ontario League, hitting .327/?/.396 in 1920. He also went 1 for 9 for the International League's Syracuse Chiefs and Toronto Maple Leafs. Back in Brantford in 1921, he batted .351 with 10 triples, 87 RBI and 26 steals, while slugging .498. He then returned to the International League for the rest of his baseball career. There he played for the Buffalo Bisons as an outfielder from 1922-1925. Dye hit .312/~.384/.444 his first year in Buffalo, with 88 runs, 18 steals and 12 triples. In '23, Babe batted .318/~.400/.502 with 133 runs, 40 doubles, 13 triples, 16 home runs, 84 walks and 29 stolen bases. He was fifth in the International League in doubles and runs. In 1924, the Buffalo flyhawk hit .311/~.366/.445 with 43 doubles, 20 steals and 114 runs. He tied for third in the IL in doubles. In '25, he had a .293/~.338/.406 batting line, a far cry from his earlier seasons. He only stole five and scored 77 runs, with 21 doubles, 30 walks and 7 triples.

He spent one final season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and either Baltimore Orioles or Buffalo (sources vary) in 1926, hitting .215/~.268/.271 in 51 games.

His minor league totals for 811 games show a .311 average, .443 slugging percentage, 45 HR, 402 RBI, with 542 R and 118 SB.
